1 Pound Gold Sovereign, Victoria Young
The Gold Sovereign coin with the portrait of Queen Victoria, also known as Victoria "Young Head", is a fascinating relic from the Victorian era. Victoria, who was only 18 years old, ascended the British throne in 1837 for a full 63 years. The ruler with German roots ruled over a third of the world's population for a time.
The "Young Head" version of the portrait was used from 1838 to 1887, with only minor changes being made, mainly to the hairstyle. These coins bear either the coat of arms or the typical motif of St. George on horseback fighting the dragon on the reverse.
During the reign of Queen Victoria, the British Royal Mint established three branches in Australia to mint the raw gold mined there locally. These Australian sovereigns, marked with the mintmarks M for Melbourne, P for Perth and S for Sydney, quickly mixed with sovereigns from other countries, making their origin clearly identifiable.

After receipt of payment, the items are immediately assembled and packed on camera. Afterwards the dispatch takes place as insured package. We will send you a mail upon receipt of payment.
