The Vienna Philharmonic gold coin is an investment coin minted by the renowned Austrian mint Münze Österreich in Vienna. It was first introduced in 1989 and has since gained a worldwide reputation for its high quality and artistic value. The Austrian coin is the most successful European gold coin and, according to the “World Gold Council,” it was even the world’s best-selling gold coin in 1992, 1995, 1996, and 2000. The gold coin is made of pure gold with a fineness of 999.9/1000. The Vienna Philharmonic gold coin is available in sizes of 1/25 oz, 1/10 oz, ¼ oz, ½ oz, 1 oz, and 20 oz.
The design of the gold coin is intended to symbolize Austria’s deep connection to music. Representing this is the world-famous orchestra, the “Vienna Philharmonic.” One side of the coin features the inscription “Wiener Philharmoniker” in elegant curved lettering along with several instruments of the famous orchestra. The value side depicts the impressive organ located in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein building.
